Mission Cleared: Backlog #9

Backlog: an accumulation of something, especially uncompleted work or matters that need to be dealt with.

Week 8 Progress

All right, I’ll confess. I bit off a bit more than I could chew, for reals this time. That said, I also didn’t expect to take my partner to the ER and spend about 6 hours waiting in a hospital. Or the three hours of overtime at work. BUT those excuses aside, I also didn’t devote enough of my potential time to gaming this week. That said, I still finished two games. BOOYAH.

Tacoma is a fun character exploration–this note gets me 100%

Tacoma was a thrilling, unique experience that never wore out its welcome. I completed it in about two hours even, then added about a half hour to complete a couple extra achievements I missed. It’s really a first-person narrative adventure. None of your tasks are intense, they’re all based on reading comprehension and viewing holgraphic renditions of people talking. Despite being a story about a space station emergency, it was pretty chill. Not at all like Obersvation, which seemed similar at first. Worth a play if you have even an average desire for sci-fi.

Tell Me Why Chapter 3 concludes an outstanding story–worth multiple playthroughs

Tell Me Why Chapter Three finished a twisty, sad–but optimistic—story that never fails to compel you. I’ve written a review for it here, please check it out. This is easily the best new release I’ve played in a while. And if you read this weekly, you know that’s a lot of games.

I did put a little more time into Quantum Break, but it’s not grabbing me as much as I thought it would. Looks absolutely stunning for its age (it’s Xbox One X Enhanced), as it looks almost the same graphical quality as A Plague Tale, but with a whole lot more flashy effects–however, the story is more cheese than actual depth (coming from someone that enjoys the performers).

WEEK 9 – September 15th – Sept 21st

LEGEND: XGP=XBOX GAME PASS, XGWG=XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD, NS=NINTENDO SWITCH, NSO=NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE, PC=PC

*Added estimated time remaining to completion*

This week is another recovery week, as I have plenty of non-gaming related plans and once Super Mario 3D All Stars was announced, it was a guarantee I would have to spend my weekend in a nostalgically drunken stupor with Sunshine.

I’ll get Drake Hollow back on the list sometime, probably when I can get someone to play co-op with me. This new week adds Timespinner, which is published by Chucklefish (Wargroove); I always love their games, and I purchased this a while ago, so I figured I’d complete this before I buy the new release Inmost.

I’ve added the two tables below to keep track of this mission a little easier–let me know what you think! I would love to know what additions you think I should make next week.
